Supporting Others with Gratitude

Our Mission

Matt taught us to be grateful, and the With Gratitude Matt Foundation is keeping Matt’s lessons alive. We are a 501(c)3 foundation dedicated to carrying on Matt Moran’s legacy of gratitude, hope and courage in the face of life’s challenges. Through storytelling on our podcast, we seek to inspire others to live as Matt lived. We also provide an annual financial award to a young adult who embodies the ideals of serving others with a grateful heart.

Matt’s light, strength, and giving heart will live on in the benefactors of the With Gratitude Matt Foundation.

WGM Award Recipients

At our 2025 gala, A Toast to Gratitude, we honored the first recipient of the With Gratitude Matt Foundation Award: Grant Pachuta. Grant is a 15-year-old high school sophomore who was badly burned and faced a long and arduous recovery. Grant was just twelve years old when his family home caught on fire.

Grant spent 44 days in an ICU, and just days before release, had to have a tracheostomy tube put in. He had that tube for two years. When it was finally removed in the fall of 2024, his first question was, “Can I play football now??” We’re so pleased to tell you that he is a member of his JV football team today!

Grant received this award because over the past three years, he demonstrated strength, faithful courage, and resilience. He has not let his injuries define him. He and his family are so thankful to all who helped him and provide gift baskets to their local fire department every Thanksgiving.

His positive attitude and grateful heart embody everything Matt stood for, and we were so pleased to give Grant this award. Congratulations, Grant, and thank you to all of you for making this possible!

One day, Matt was approached by a stranger who asked “how are you doing?” Even though Matt was in noticable pain and could barely walk while on his way to treatment, Matt energetically responded “Fantastic!” Matt believed life is a gift, no matter how powerful the storm. He was always positive and grateful.

Matt made a lasting impression on each person he met. Matt believed in being present with others and that is why he made a difference, one person at a time. We can also make that same choice every day to have a positive effect on every person or situation.
